The story of AltVibes is woven from the threads of a rich legacy that spans decades, rooted in a deep love for craftsmanship and home aesthetics. It all began in the 1980s with Amitabh Airi, a man with an unyielding passion for homeware. Starting out as a humble door-to-door salesman, Amitabh carried with him the vision to bring quality products into every household. He began his journey selling homeware products from Prestige, and soon after, the sparkling allure of crystalware caught his eye.

What started as a job quickly turned into a lifelong passion. Amitabh’s dedication and drive led him to excel in the world of homeware, where he found his calling in glassware at Yera. Moving up from a salesman to a sales manager, and eventually to the prestigious role of national sales head, he immersed himself in understanding the technicalities of glassware manufacturing.

Over the years, Amitabh developed a love for the trade, matched only by his desire to bring the finest brands from around the globe to Indiaβ€”a vision energized by the spirit of liberalization in the country. He imagined luxury glassware brands gracing countless Indian homes.

Fueled by his passion and vision, Amitabh took a bold leap into entrepreneurship. He founded his own business, a venture dedicated to curating and delivering internationally renowned homeware brands to India. What began as a door-to-door journey transformed into a legacy of growth, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to bringing the best of the world into Indian homes.

Amitabh’s entrepreneurial journey saw the successful launch of brands like Nachtmann, Spiegelau, and Riedel in India, followed by over 20 other prestigious brands across the kitchenware, tea, coffee, and home dΓ©cor segments. Each brand was carefully selected for its quality and legacy, introduced to the Indian market with the same passion that ignited his journey.

Central to bringing this visionΒ to life was Tomo Kobori, a close partner with a major network in Japan and East Asia. Tomo's expertise in home goods, particularly in the tea and coffee segment, has been instrumental in identifying and introducing unique brands to the Indian market. Thanks to Tomo, renowned Japanese brands like Hario and Kyocera have found their way into Indian homes, enriching the AltVibes catalog with products that epitomize quality and innovation. Tomo's passion for homeware extends beyond business; his love for tea and coffee led him to launch Origami Drip BagΒ and introduce Blue Tokai to the Japanese market, underscoring his commitment to bringing the best of East Asia's craftsmanship to the world.

In partnership with Tomo Kobori, Amitabh further expanded his trading business by launching Dozo Services, a venture aimed at bringing even more high-quality brands to India. This collaboration marked a significant milestone, enabling Amitabh to continue his mission of enriching Indian homes with the finest products from around the world.

Then came 2020, a year that changed the world as we knew it. The COVID-19 pandemic brought new challenges, but it also presented new opportunities. With the world shifting online, Amitabh and Tomo saw an opportunity to take their legacy to the next level.

This is where AltVibes.com was born. Unlike the vast online marketplaces that cater to everyone, AltVibes was created with a clear purposeβ€”to curate and sell only the best in homeware to those who appreciate the finer things in life. The goal was not to become another Amazon but to remain true to the values that have driven the business from the start: quality, craftsmanship, and a deep love for creating beautiful havens out of homes.

Presently, AltVibes.com is led by Shivani Airi, an entrepreneur with a keen eye for growth and innovation. Shivani holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Marketing from Imperial College London and brings with her a wealth of experience from working with 5-6 startups over the past seven years. Her focus at AltVibes is on startup growth, ensuring that the brand continues to evolve while staying true to its core values. Under her leadership, AltVibes is not just a business but a passion-driven enterprise that aspires to bring the finest in homeware to discerning customers.
